Issues connecting your email account to Contactually depend on which type of email you have.
Gmail
- If you have two-factor authentication (aka 2FA or two-step verification) enabled, you may need to create an app-specific password in place of your regular password.
Office365
- The most common error is "Does not have access to consent." If you see an error similar to this, please ask your IT administrator to enable third-party email authorization.
- If you have two-factor authentication (aka 2FA or two-step verification) enabled, you may need to create an app-specific password in place of your regular password.
IMAP
- Make sure that your email address is in fact an IMAP email. If you aren't sure what kind of email account you have or what kind of server your email uses, check on your mail client's account settings or contact your mail administrator.
- Your email username is usually your email address. Alternatively, it could be everything before the @ symbol in your email (for instance, in the email jane@me.com, the username might be "jane"). If neither works, check with your email administrator to see what the exact username is.
- If you have two-factor authentication (aka 2FA or two-step verification) enabled, you may need to create an app-specific password in place of your regular password. For Apple accounts, see this article. For AOL accounts, click here. For Yahoo! accounts, click here.
Microsoft Exchange
- Double-check your login and server address with your IT administrator. If you have your email successfully connected on your phone on in a mail app on your computer, you can also check your credentials there. See here for how.
- Check for any security settings that may prevent third-party apps from accessing your server.
- If all else fails, try to obtain IMAP settings from your email administrator. Exchange accounts can have IMAP settings, as well, which may be easier for you to connect.
POP3
Direct integration to POP3 accounts is not possible. However, many POP3 accounts have an IMAP solution available—check the settings and documentation provided by your email provider.
