How to import Mac contacts into Contactually

To get your contacts from your Mac address book to Contactually, first export the contacts to a vCard file, then convert that file to a CSV file, and then import the CSV into Contactually.

How to export your Mac Address Book contacts to a vCard file
1. Open your Mac Address Book.

You can export all contacts by clicking File, then Export, then Export vCard. Alternatively, you can export only some contacts by selecting the contacts you want to export in the Address Book window.

3. Right click on the selected contacts.

4. Choose Export vCard.

5. A pop-up window will ask you to rename and save the file. Follow the instructions below to convert the vCard file to a CSV file.

How to convert a vCard file to a CSV file
1. Use this website to convert the file:

2. Choose/open your vCard file of contacts.

3. To the right of Format, use the dropdown menu to select CSV. Then use the  second dropdown menu to the right to select Comma.

4. Tick the checkbox to "Add header line."

Tick the checkbox for only vCards with emails or phone numbers if you want to limit which contacts to include in your spreadsheet.

6. Click Convert.

How to import the CSV file into Contactually
Once you have your CSV file, go to the Contacts tab and click Import at the top right. Follow these instructions to ensure your import goes smoothly. If you receive an error saying the file is malformed, open the CSV in Excel and save it again as a CSV. Then import it to Contactually. You will receive an email once the import is finished.
