How to leave copies of messages on your email server

In order to log your emails and know when to remind you to follow up, Contactually needs to be able to access your emails on your server. Follow the steps below to leave copies of email messages on your server.  


Windows Live Mail

1. Right click the email account in the left pane and click Properties.

2. Click the Advanced tab.

3. Tick the checkbox next to "Leave a copy of message on server."

4. Click OK.



Outlook 2013

1. Open Outlook and click File at the top.

2. Click Account Settings.

3. Click your email address and click Change.

4. A window will open. Click More Settings at the bottom of the window and then click the Advanced tab.

5. Tick the checkbox to "Leave a copy of messages on the server."



Outlook 2011

1. Click Tools.

2. Click the Accounts tab.

3. Click the email address you want to connect to Contactually.

4. Click the Advanced tab.

5. Tick the checkbox to "Leave a copy of each message on server."

6. Click OK.



Outlook 2010

1. Open Outlook and click File at the top.

2. Click Account Settings.

3. Click your email address and click Change.

4. A window will open. Click More Settings at the bottom of the window and then click the Advanced tab.

5. Tick the checkbox to "Leave a copy of messages on the server."

6. Click OK.

7. Click Next. Click Finish. Click Close.



Outlook 2007

1. Click Tools at the top.

2. Click Account Settings.

3. Click your email address and click Change.

4. A window will open. Click More Settings at the bottom of the window and then click the Advanced tab.

5. Tick the checkbox to "Leave a copy of messages on the server."

6. Click OK.

7. Click Next. Click Finish.



Outlook 2002, 2003, and XP

1. Click Tools at the top.

2. Click Email Accounts.

3. Select "View or change an exis
ting email address" or click the Email tab.

4. Click the email address you want to connect to Contactually and click Change.

5. A window will open. Click More Settings at the bottom of the window and then click the Advanced tab.


6. Tick the checkbox to "Leave a copy of messages on the server."

7. Click Finish.



Qualcomm Eudora

These instructions are for Eudora 7.0 or later.

1. Click Tools.

2. Click Personalities.

3. Right click the email account name and click Properties.

4. Tick the checkbox to "Leave messages on server."



Mozilla Thunderbird 1

1. Click Tools.

2. Click Account Settings.

3. Under the account name, click Server Settings.

4. Tick the checkbox to "Leave messages on server."



IncrediMail

1. Click Tools.

2. Click Accounts.

3. Select the email account and click Properties.

4. Click the Advanced tab.

5. Tick the checkbox to "Leave a copy of messages on server."



Internet Mail

1. Click Mail.

2. Click Options and click the Server tab.

3. Click Advanced Settings.


4. Tick the checkbox to "Leave a copy of messages on server."

5. Click OK.



GoldMine Premium Edition with GoldSync 8

1. Click Tools.

2. Click Options.

3. Click the Email tab.

4. Click Accounts.

5. Click your email account and then click Edit.

6. Clear the auto-delete checkbox so you don't auto-delete messages.



Novell GroupWise email client

1. Click Accounts and then Account Options.

2. Click the account name or email address.

3. Click Properties.

4. Click the Advanced tab.

5. Tick the checkbox to "Leave a copy of messages on the server."

6. Click OK. Click Close.



Mac Mail/Mac OS 10.1

1. Click Mail.

2. Click Preferences.

3. Click the email address you want to connect to Contactually. Then click Edit.

4. Click the Account Options tab.

5. Clear the checkbox so you don't "Delete messages from server after downloading."



Apple Mail on Mac OS X

1. Click Mail.

2. Click Preferences.

3. Click the Accounts tab and click the email address you want to connect to Contactually.

4. Click the Advanced tab.

5. Clear the checkbox so you don't "Remove copy from the server after retrieving a message."

6. Click OK.



Microsoft Entourage X

1. Click Tools.

2. Click Accounts.

3. Click the email address you want to connect to Contactually and click Edit.

4. The Edit Account window will appear. Click the Options tab.

5. Tick the checkbox to "Leave a copy of each message on the server."
